Cardiac and coronary artery imaging Cardiac
MR imaging has been developing rapidly in the last few
years and it will be another important imaging modality
for a lot of cardiac conditions in the near future
because of its non-invasiveness, without radiation,
imaging in any desire plane, multiplanar reconstruction,
cine ability to visualise motion and flow, good tissue
contrast and multiphase imaging throughout the cardiac
cycle.
Cardiac MR provide valuable information
on :
- Cardiac anatomy
- Congenital heart disease.
- Visualise flow and cardiac movement
Cardiac functions like end-diastolic and end systolic
volumes, ejection fraction, wall thickness and wall
thickening
With the help of contrast, myocardial perfusion can be
displayed and help in the detection of myocardial
ischaemia and infarction.
Cadiac MR can provide non-invasive visualisation of
the coronary arteries and provide a screening for
suspected coronary artery disease.
